Exploring Gdansk through the lens of its historical figures adds such depth to understanding the city's rich past. The nuanced portrayal of heroes and villains brings history to life in a compelling way. Thank you for offering this insightful perspective.

Great piece! A stark reminder that despite the cold, hard facts, history can be refashioned to meet the whims of those in charge. i.e. Inauguration Day+

This sounds like a museum I’d be interested in visiting. It’s so important to remember how politicized history can be, depending on who’s doing the telling. We forget about the long run-up to the horrors of WW2 and the dire consequences of unchecked nationalism, xenophobia and racism at our peril. Your post has particular resonance right here and now. Thanks for sharing, Lisa.

Thanks, Ruth. It's an extremely interesting museum (I spent 3 hours there and felt like I just scratched the surface) and definitely resonates at this particular moment in time.

I want to say that this is lovely, but that's not entirely the right word. It's scary, eye-opening, thought-provoking and beautifully written.

Dark and stormy politicization here and there, then and now. There’s always something blowing in the wind. Nice when it includes the scents of comfort foods. Thanks for sharing your journey. Happy trails Lisa.

How many times must history repeat itself. I did watch the inauguration. This doesn’t need to be one of those times. Awaken America.
